Description

Name: Lucy
Gender: female
Age: 17
Race: human
Category: warrior/defensive

Personality:

*kind (as seen before she is kind with others, willing help all who need it and  is always up for giving and expecting nothing in return)
*brave (despite her kind nature she will defend and protect those in need no matter the odds, willing to face any danger head on)
*determined (when she puts her mind into something she will do everything in her power to get it done, not letting anything hold her down)
*peaceful (although willing to fight to defend herself and others she is not one to quickly draw a sword in any situation, rather to conversating or reasoning to solve the problem first)
*fearless (now with the fighting skills of a true warrior and had already overcome her dislike for violence, her fear in the battlefield goes away as she fights her enemies)

Other features:

when she is not in battle she takes enjoyment in chores such as cleaning and listening to music.
she always wanted a group of friends to call family, she has had many groups of friends but they all seem to have come and go, the only friend who stayed by her side the longest was silver.
as she slowly delves deeper in this world of combat she grows stronger both physically and mentally, never willing to kill but also being a formidable warrior.
she also suffers a slight case of post traumatic stress disorder from experiencing a by killing someone, but it has also helped her become more capable in a fight and fearless.

Weapon of choice:

holy sword and shield (a special sword made from the same one as joan of arc and a shield made of a strange but very strong material passed on from warrior to warrior. both forged with silver and bathed in holy water)

Background:

Lucy came from a rather dysfunctional family. his father a veteran and a tad bit violent and her mother a nun there were times of tension, they would constantly fight and argue much to her dismay. one day her father threaten to kill her mother. in a sudden rush of fear and anger she stopped him and pulled his weapon away from him and threaten him with it. filled with anger and willing to pull the trigger her mother feared she would, in realising this she threw away the gun and vowed to never to cause harm like people like her father. soon after she made a vow to stand against violence and to show her family that she can solve any problem without using violence. after the death of her parents she was left alone until she met silver, and decided to help him through rough times. soon after they became close friends. one tragic day silver was in a fight nearly beaten to a pulp. she pleaded with the aggressor to stop only for him to push her aside and kept attacking silver. nearly close to death she was left desperate and in fear, the very same rush back when she attacked her father was felt when she attacked the aggressor but accidentally killing the man in the process. traumatized by the fact she had taken a life she went into a state of shock and horror only for a weaken silver to comfort her. knowing that this saved silver in the end grew a slight tolerance to combat, now helping him in the battlefield. but as time went by and she had to endure every battle as each one got worse she slowly matured and became more serious especially in combat. but always trying to keep her calm nature when not in combat

Hello! I am here from :iconprojectcomment:
I am so very sorry that it took me a long time to get to your work!

First things first, I would like to say that I am quite happy to see a female warrior in sensible clothes. That's a rare thing in a lot of people's character design! The character seems mostly believable except for a few elements in the background story (which we will get to later). And the overall set up is pretty plausible, too. I would say this is a solid character and the drawing is also pretty solid. They are both great places to start building on. So, great job!

Now, how to make Lucy even better?
First is the art work: Lucy's anatomy suffers from a few places that may need to be looked into. For starters, she's got a slightly bigger top half compared to her hips/legs. Her arms are also extra long, too. (Your middle finger usually reach your mid-thigh for length.) Your forearm and upper arm are usually the same length, but Lucy's forearm seems to be quite a bit longer. She also has no visible wrist for transition, either. The human face is largely forehead (taking up to about half of the full head's length). So Lucy is suffering from a diminished forehead. Her features also do not pair up and seem skewed. This is also echoed in the shield she is carrying. One side is larger than the other; else the shield's angles are a bit off.

I usually recommend everybody to look up references; the more the merrier. They tend to help with the anatomy part of it quite nicely. And for objects, it's possible to draw what are called "reference lines" - a grid system of parallel lines that can be erased later. But they will help you to position things in 3D space.

Second thing is the background story.
I understand the abusive dad, but I don't quite get the "nun mother". Now, I understand this is a different world, but usually when people think of the word "nun", they understand these women to be celibate. "Priestesses" aren't celibate, but "nuns" are. There is also no reason to make her an orphan other than that it's a common trope for characters. Once in a while it's nice to have a character with living parents (or just one. That's fine, too.) Having her mother there as a stabilizing force may be helpful to ground her resolve in "keeping the peace" despite the fact that she is now a warrior and is actually doing violence. It's something to consider.

Overall, like what I said, you have created some really solid foundations for you to build this character. So keep up the good work and I wish you all the best! :w00t:
